Mumbai Terror, Who is responsible?

After Mumbai attack Pakistani PM admitted that he would send DG ISI to India but DG ISI refused to go to India. If ISI has nothing to do with this terror attack why DG ISI refused to go there and share information with them, they should not have any thing to hide or even afraid of anything which they have not done or do not endorse. This act of refusal by ISI Director General must be seen in the context of insubordination to its Govt. It has also shown that civilian Govt has no control over its military intelligence agencies which is very dangerous trend. Pakistan is a nation state and it must respect international laws and behave accordingly, it would not be enough to say after every terrorist attack that it is a conspiracy against Islam or Pakistan, it would not work any more. It is a reality that Pakistani state has been tolerating these Jihadi groups in its territory, its state secret agencies are harboring and promoting these groups, neither Pakistani army is willing to eliminate them nor civilian administration has capacity to do that in near future.

It is still possibility that India might take action against these groups, it may provoke an all out war which could take very ugly turn because Pakistani military has no match with Indian military might. There are talk of surgical operation in Pakistan by Indian military, that can only happen if both countries make understanding among themselves, just like Nehru and Ayyub Khan had done during 1965 war to settle the score in both countries. India has to do some thing otherwise Congress would never be able to win elections in India next time, as we have seen anger with in Indian public against their Govt and it is very real. India also got an opportunity, just like U.S. after 9-11 and this time India has support of every one but U.S. is worried about the disruption of its war on terror. U.S. sectary of state has gone to India and Pakistan to tell them control themselves and do not hurt U.S. interests in the region. Indian and Pakistani states are not independent, so that it is most likely, they will obey what they have been told to do. Actually Jihadis are also want Pakistan and India to go on all out war and destroy each other, some how both states have been trapped by these terrorists, Pakistan would not be able to take any action against these Jihadis because they have enough sympathizers in its military ranks and files, civilian Govt is very weak to do any thing by its own and military still needs these Jihadis in the country to destroy democratic Govts. India can only control its peoples anger taking action against Jihadis camps but how it would be possible, since situation is very complicated. One thing is very clear that this attack on Mumbai would decide the fate of these Jihadis, they might have signed their own death warrants, or it would be death of millions of Indians and Pakistanis, out come of anger and this level of hatred could be result of any thing.

I am totally agree with you, no doubt there is no place in any religion for these people, we do denounce them, condemn them, every Muslim wonders can Muslim do this kind of horrible act of violence which is no means justified. Actually, we must face one reality that these groups do exist in Muslim societies, they do have support among one section of Muslim society, they do preach and teach this so called Jihadist ideology and people do glorify their acts of violence. We do not need to care what western imperialist powers say which have been responsible creating this menace in Muslim countries, what India says, What enemies of Islam say but we do need to care about their religious ideology, it would be more harmful to our own people, as we have seen them that these groups are not only damaging Muslim societies but also spreading hateful ideology among Muslim youth, which would be worst enemy of our people. There are too much injustices in Muslim societies but instead of struggling against them properly, it is the the way of destroying every thing. I do know why we do not accept that it is a problem in our societies and we have to tackle it properly, no matter what enemies of Islam say about but is our problem at the first place. Why we are too sensitive to say that some Muslim are committing this crime, does our religion teaches and preaches lying, if not why we shy to say that it is a problem among Muslim, it would benefit any of our enemy but most beneficiaries would be our innocent people. We are still trying to be hypocrites, just saying that whoever is involved in these criminal acts can not be Muslim, Muslim can not do that, it is a work of anti Islam forces, etc etc. I do not know who we are going to fool, only ourselves, if we are blind, no one can help us.

If we do not call them '' Jihadis'' or Mujahid'' does it mean reality would change? As long as they call themselves Jihadis, they are running groups in the name of Islam, whole world would call them by their adopted name, if we as Muslim do not live in this world, then it may be OK. We call them what they want us to call them, no body has given them this name ''Jihadi'' If Muslim do not identify them as Muslim, religious scholars must declare them non Muslim, if they do have an authority. But it is not as simple as we think, Pakistan is the place where these groups have been produced and still production is continued, I do know them, entire world can be wrong but how we can be wrong, who live with them, grow up with these groups in same society, we opposed them openly, we rejected their religious ideology which is completely political one, their agenda is political, they want to run state affairs through this terror way and we do know their terror, we have seen them, some of us are victim of this terror, no body can fool us. It is a state based religion and has been promoted by Pakistani state apparatus with the help of U.S. Dollars, every Pakistani citizen is aware of it. I still remember my college days in Pakistani, We have lot of Kashmiri students in Hostels, ( Dom) these religious groups used to come there and teach us this new brand of Islam which was very popular that time. One of the groups used to teach us we must believe that all Shiite Muslim are Kafir ( non Muslim) if we do not believe it we could become Kafir also and they will consider us as such. When 90s came, We had taught that we Kashmiris must believe that true Jihad is underway in Kashmir valley, if we do not believe that it is a true Jihad we must be declared Kafir, as we used to oppose that so called Jihad, we been told by these religious groups that Jihad is a basic part of Islam and one of the pillars of Islam, opposing it means Kufr, we must be dealt with such manners. Surprisingly, some of these Jihadis or whatever, were our college follows and front line Jihadis, but when I met them 2002,2003, non of them was calling Kashmiri movement Jihad nor themselves Jihadi but freedom fighter and Kashmir liberation movement instead Jihad. In 1990 we were qualified Kafir and in 2002 all of us were declared good Muslim instead by our Jihadi college follows , what else can be said about it. We been called here on this forum that RAW is funding us and supporting us, POK side people say that ISI must be supporting us since ISI is also anti Jihadist now a days, what a nonsense. We only care about 15 million Kashmiris who have been suppressed and occupied by two neighboring countries, that,s all I can say. Truth will prevail and we will never hesitate to tell the truth no matter it goes against us or some body else.

Mumbai attack was direct response to Pakistani president Asif Zardari,s statement about Kashmiri Jehadis are terrorists and two weeks ago another statement of India , Pakistan relations during a video conference in Delhi. There is very a little doubt that LET is not responsible and ISI would not have been direct or indirect involvement in this terror attack on Mumbai city. We all know that these Jehadi groups have been created by ISI to do their dirty work in the region. In Pakistan these Jehadi groups have been running big centers, Madrases, training camps, They are spreading Jehadi propaganda openly everywhere, their publications can be seen openly, pamphlets against India is nothing new and Jihad against India has been their only mission in the region. Conspiracy theories are also flying all over but there are so many indicators and enough proofs of Lashkar Toiba was involved in this attack. These Jihadi groups do not like to see on going peace process between India and Pakistan to be succeeded. They can do whatever would be necessary to derail this peace process.

It was also infavour of Pakistani Military establishment to pull out its one hundred twenty five thousands troops from north frontier areas, where these troops have been fighting against its own creation Taliban, which has been considered an American war not by Pakistani people but also Army personnel, who are unwilling to fight against Pakistani Taliban. A large section of Pakistan army itself is a Jihadi and sharing the same religious views, having great sympathies with these Jihadis in the country. The planners of Mumbai attacks thought that this ruthless act will provoke Indian state to attack Pakistan in retaliation and Pakistan would immediately move its 1,25000 troops from western border to eastern border to fight India. These Jihadis wanted to disrupt military operation in FATA, which is clearly an American war and paid by America but Pakistani military has tied up there and does not like to win this American war against Taliban.

There is no doubt that some of these terrorist attacks are direct act of Jehadis, ISI may not be involved directly or some times may not even at all but its creations do know what is need be done, because they have been taught and trained by their creator. Their mission is to destroy India but their little minds have little thinking, killing 200 hundred innocent Indian citizens have nothing to do the destruction of Indian state nor it would benefit Kashmiri movement, even though it would be the destruction of Indian Muslim community, but they they do not care about anything because they think that they are the only Muslim, since majority of Muslim do not buy their version of Islam. They are waging Jihad against everybody and it is a modern day Jihad, no one should surprise.

MIRPUR, Azad Kashmir ( POK) -- Kashmir is a nation in torment -- partitioned, brutally repressed, its people the victims of a vicious proxy war between India and Pakistan. The Kashmiri people want an independent, free Kashmir, beholden to neither India nor Pakistan.

For the two governments which occupy Kashmir, the region is a perpetual source of conflict over rich mineral resources, strategic geography and eminently marketable natural beauty. Neither government shows any sign of relinquishing its claim, in spite of heavy western pressure.

Washington wants a “negotiated solution”, most likely to formalise the partition of the country. For the US, the “Kashmir issue” is a threat to regional stability and a waste of a very profitable tourism resource.

Before 1947, when Britain pulled out of the subcontinent, Kashmir was a “princely state”, subject to the British crown but ruled by a maharaja. When India and Pakistan gained independence, many Kashmiris also believed their country would become independent.

However, in 1948 Pakistan and Indian troops fought a brief war and partitioned Kashmir at a “line of actual control” -- the uneasy, unofficial border. That did not quell the independence struggle on either side of the “line of actual control”. Upsurges of national sentiment occurred throughout the 1960s, '70s and into the '80s against both Pakistani and Indian rule.

In Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (perversely named “Azad Kashmir” or Free Kashmir), central to these struggles were the students led by the Jammu-Kashmir National Students' Federation (JKNSF). JKNSF still has a massive following among the youth of Azad Kashmir for its uncompromising pro-independence stance. This contrasts to most of the “recognised” parties, which favour a Kashmir “unified” under Pakistani rule.

The JKNSF has units on all the colleges and universities in the region; the letters “NSF” can be seen daubed on walls throughout Azad Kashmir.

In the late 1980s, there was another upsurge in the national struggle, particularly in Indian-held Kashmir. In the 1990s, however, this upsurge was hijacked by the Pakistani intelligence services and military.

Left nationalist forces operating underground in Indian-held Kashmir were starved and crushed, often with the Pakistani military tipping-off their Indian counterparts. As a result, the left in Indian-held Kashmir has been decimated -- and has lost all contact with its colleagues on the Pakistan side.

Instead, the Pakistan military has financed, armed and trained Islamic militants and mujahideen groups, frequently from Afghanistan. These groups are helped across the border by the Pakistani military (one of the training camps of Osama bin-Laden hit by US air strikes on Afghanistan was a Pakistan-run training camp for militants to be sent into Kashmir).

For these reactionaries, the goal is not a free and independent Kashmir but a jihad, a holy war, against Hindu India. They have carried out brutal atrocities against the Hindu minority in Kashmir and the Hindu majority in neighbouring Jammu, as well as against leftist and secular Kashmiris. In reply, India has carried out is own atrocities against the Kashmiri people.

In an attempt to reorganise and revitalise the left (at least in Azad Kashmir), in 1997 the JKNSF launched a new party, the National Awami Party (NAP). This was bitterly opposed by the pro-Pakistan “recognised” parties.

The NAP (and the JKNSF) operate semi-legally. Whilst not banned, it is constantly watched and occasionally repressed. On universities, the JKNSF is frequently threatened and sometimes physically attacked by Islamic fundamentalists.

In the last elections, in 1996, the NAP announced a list of candidates for all 36 seats in Azad Kashmir's puppet assembly. All were disqualified for not signing the oath of loyalty to Pakistan.

Nevertheless, the NAP is rapidly gaining support. According to general secretary Ali Zaman Raja, new units are being established all over Azad Kashmir. Many other left groups are now discussing unification with the NAP. The JKNSF also continues to grow.

The main problems Kashmir's left nationalist movement face are lack of resources, constant interference by the intelligence services and a complete lack of contact with Indian-occupied Kashmir.

Given the intransigent opposition of the Indian and Pakistan governments to the right of self-determination for the Kashmiri people -- and the western powers' interest in a “quick solution” -- the left nationalist forces in Kashmir need international solidarity to ensure that a “solution” cannot be imposed on them against their will.
